Under 13’s Storm into Middlesex County Cup Quarter Final!

The U13 ‘A’ team had never been further than The fourth round of the County Cup and the same round this year was a home tie against Acton Ealing Whistlers ‘A’. (06/12/15)

The wind was blowing hard and Princes Park elected to KO uphill against the wind in the 1st half on a home pitch they were familiar with.

The home team dominated position for the 1st 15 minutes but neither team creating any good chances to score. Both teams it seems we’re battling with the conditions.

On 20 minutes the away team scored against the run of play with a well struck shot from 20 yards out. The keeper Jameel having no chance to save as the ball went in the top left hand corner. One nil to the visitors.

This seemed to galvanise the home team who continued to dominate with fine runs down the flanks from Laolu & Jake with crosses finding their keeper stretching as Aden narrowly missed on two occasions. On 30 minutes Aden’s cross was met by Jake who struck the ball first time passed the diving keeper. 1-1. Further missed chances by the home team brought the first half to an end with all to play for.

Playing downhill and with the wind the home team were presented with different conditions but after 5 minutes a slick move and clearance from Miles found Laolu who broke free down the right & fired a shot passed the keeper for a goal, 2-1. Another fine long ball from Miles threaded through the defence found the feet of Jake who took the ball passed one defender and shot across the keeper, 3-1. With 20 minutes remaining in the game the home team were dominant and started to pass the ball around. Interplay between Aden, Jake & Freddie seemed to working better & the hard work in midfield by Aiden & Hussain was paying dividends as conditions meant that ‘first to the ball mentality’ was important.

A fourth goal was on the cards and this came with 10 minutes remaining when a shot from Freddie was cleared only to find the feet of Aden who put the ball passed the diver keeper, 4-1.

As well as the home team were moving the ball forward defensively they were strong with Oliver, Daniel, Sammi & Miles all playing well.

With the game nearing an end there was time for another goal. Another assist from Miles finding Freddie on the left who effortlessly put the ball passed the keeper, 5-1. Game over.

With a small squad this year many players were playing out of position and none more than Jameel, yet another outfield player who plays in goal.

Having seen this team battle half their games this season with only 10 men it was fitting to see with 11 players they were now rewarded with a quarter final tie at home in the next round.

Who knows where we can go this year?
